Yes, really!

Its possible to claim a pension if you worked in the UK as well as Ireland. This pension is paid in addition to any Republic of Ireland state pension.

It may be posssible to backdate National Insurance (UK) or PRSI (ROI) contributions to make up for missed contribution (tax-paying) years in each country.

If you worked in the UK for a number of years, then it's worth checking to see if you might be eligible.

I didnt realise you could do this - I have started the process, I'm finding it a bit tricky to setup the UK Government profile but I will stick with it.... this could be worth over £100 additional pension a week to me, I would need to pay maybe around £18,000 to get it, but that's a much better return than any private pension!
